Partner Support

The St. Croix River Association’s is supportive of other conservation groups, organizations and individuals whose goals are aligned with the SCRA mission:

“To protect, restore and celebrate the St. Croix River and its watershed.”

The Association’s support can take several different forms such as:

  • Endorsement/sponsorship of a particular program or initiative.
  • Co-signing a resolution, petition or letter to the editor.
  • Partnering in a specific project.
  • Providing advice and expertise.
  • Contributing financial support. (Please understand that at this early stage of our development, the SCRA’s financial resources are limited).

Because each situation is unique, evaluation of requests for support are handled on a case by case basis. So that we may be thoughtful and consistent in how we respond to requests, we ask that they be supported by the information requested on the form below. .

In evaluating requests, we follow a number of basic principles:

  • Is the opportunity or threat one that directly impacts the SCRA mission?
  • How significant is the opportunity or threat in terms of impact and/or the implications   for setting precedent?
  • What are the credentials of the group making the request – track record, leadership,    fiscal responsibility, credibility in the community?
  • Would the SCRA choose to respond directly to this opportunity or threat if this group did not exist?
  • What are the prospects for success?
  •  What is the return on investment, not just in terms of the requestor’s goal but also in terms of SCRA reputation, member recruiting, fundraising, etc.?

If board approval is necessary, board members who have a direct interest in the requesting organization should be excused from voting.

Individual “grants” of financial support are likely to be in hundreds, not thousands, of dollars. Monies for financial support are designated in the annual budget.

The SCRA Executive director, in consultation with the board chair, may waive the requirement that the requesting organization must complete and submit the request form. However, he/she must notify the board of this action no later than the first subsequent board meeting.

If you wish to request SCRA support please fill out the request form at the link below. Our evaluation of any request may take up to two months depending on the scope of the request and whether or not a board discussion is required.
