2013 Ranger Guided River Programs

The St. Croix River Association is offering Park Ranger guided paddle programs in partnership with the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway; the National Park for the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers. To whet your appetite, here is the DRAFT schedule. Once these events are firm with the locations, and the planning is finalized, we will send an announcement and open the registration. CAUTION-THIS IS A DRAFT SCHEDULE meant to give you some happy summer thoughts; check the SCRA paddle site in the coming months for the final program offering.
Namekagon and Upper River Guided Paddle Dates

Saturday, June 8 – River Birds: Bird watching on the Namekagon River

Thursday, June 20 – Where are the Brookies: Climate change and brook trout on the Namekagon River

Sunday, June 30 – Hey Ranger: Fish On, Fishing the St. Croix River

Sunday, July 14 – Art on the Namekagon: Art and Poetry on the Namekagon River (River Awareness Week)

Saturday, July 20 – Paddle and Smell the Flowers: Wildflowers of the Namekagon River (River Awareness Week)

Saturday, August 3 – Cecilia’s Journey: Explore the history of an Amazing Ojibwe Women

Friday, August 9 – Ghost Town of the River: Historic logging town of Veazie on the Namekagon River

Sunday, June 2 – The Mystery of Peaslee Peak: River geology

Thursday, June 20 – St. Croix Solstice: Summer solstice celebration and mythology

Thursday, July 18 -Words Over Water, Art & Literature: St. Croix River prose and poetry  (River Awareness Week)

Sunday, August 4 – Waterplains and Floodsheds:  Human and resource geography of the St. Croix

Tuesday, August 20 – Full Moon Paddle: After dark river time
